We help the town in its quest for elderly housing, and we help the developer create his affordable family complex. We help the family find an apartment they can afford, and we help the city renovate its street.
As long as the need exists, we will continue to innovate.
The History of South Shore Housing
A volunteer community housing committee established the non-profit corporation, South Shore Housing in 1970. In 1974, South Shore Housing contracted with the State Department of Community Affairs (Department of Housing & Community Development) to implement and administer the state rental assistance program in towns that lacked these services. In 1975, the contract was expanded to include the federal Section 8 programs.
Responding to the demand for increased housing services for low to moderate-income families, South Shore Housing expanded its services to included the development and management of affordable housing and a variety of housing services designed to counsel and advise people looking to secure decent, affordable housing. These activities have resulted in the creation of the following departments [Back to Home Page] within South Shore Housing.
