Shelter Plus Care

SSHDC administers the Shelter plus Care (S+C) program in conjunction with the Center for Health and Human Services (CHS) in New Bedford Massachusetts. S+C is intended for families who have one or more members disabled by HIV/AIDS and have a history of chronic substance abuse. SSHDC provides rental assistance for the families and CHS provides support services. CHS does the initial outreach to clients, screens them for suitability for the program and then refers the family to SSHDC for housing eligibility.
